Field monitoring is difficult, often lacking real-time sensors or robust systems that can allow for continuous sampling. Sites must be driven to, analytical labs introduce delays, and field kits are difficult to use or lack data integrity. FRED-Acidity is designed to be robust, automated, and easy to use for a variety of applications. The automated design decreases rework, makes analysis much simpler to perform and allows for better process control of treatment or environmental assessment plans. Reduce the amount of travelling to the site more often than required and provide needed information to process engineers without the hassle of expensive custom installation.
Acid mine drainage requires active management of acidic conditions to direct lime or caustic dosing. Rapid detection of acidity is critical to alleviate the financial, environment and social implications of site management. Operators may wait hours or even days for results from the analytical labs while water is being inappropriately treated leading to added expense and potential environmental impacts.
RAPID & PORTABLE ACIDITY DETECTION IN VARIOUS WATER SAMPLES
The system is designed for acidity measurement using a spectroscopy based method of detection. The indicator and titrant are built in a sealed cartridge. The cartridge is able to strategically dose water samples in the field kit on site without any sample pre-treatment. Detection of acidity at trace levels is achieved in a rapid timeframe, and data is transmitted via wireless (or USB) for further analysis. The product is an ideal platform for rapid analysis of sample sites.
