It is time to change how we think about water quality monitoring.  Rather than using expensive machinery that requires technicians or highly trained personnel, FREDsense is developing a biosensor platform to detect water-borne chemicals and contaminants.

 

Our first product line utilizes a tunable bacteria that can provide ultra-sensitive measurements of trace chemicals in a water sample. This platform technology can be developed to detect virtually any chemical that interacts with a living organism. With the ability to test complex samples and not requiring lengthy preparation steps, the FREDsense system is the most flexible sensor suite developed to date.

WHAT MAKES US BETTER?
HOW DOES IT WORK?

The FRED system comes in two parts: a cartridge for sample addition containing all the components needed to run the test; and a portable detector which measures and reports the results. When a water sample is added to the cartridge, the engineered sensor bacteria detects the chemical and produces an electrochemical signal.

Simply fill the cartridge, place multiple cartridges into the detector device, and wait. The detector will automatically incubate the test, and in around an hour, will measure and report the resulting chemical concentration either through 3G, Wi-Fi, or USB connection on a computer, mobile device, or server.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the future, the technology will also be implemented as an autonomous sensor, which uses the same core technology, but sits onsite in a body of water and performs measurements over a period of time, with no human interaction.
